Dr Kate Foy

A professional actor, research-practitioner and arts educator who specialises in actor-training and theatre history.

 

Biography

Assoc Prof Kate Foy holds a BA and an MLitt from the University of New England (NSW), and a PhD from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her PhD studies focussed on world theatre history, whilst her final dissertation was a cultural history on aspects of colonial and post-federation developments in Australian theatre.

In addition to her extensive professional profile as an actor (Kate Wilson), she also has a considerable production biography in Australian university theatre (UNE; USQ; GU).

Whilst Director of USQ’s Performance Centre, Kate co-founded and produced the successful and very popular annual Shakespeare in Queen’s Park Festival Toowoomba. A former Chair of Queensland Theatre (Company), she continues to serve in various high-level theatre advocacy and consultancy roles while maintaining an active profile as a performer and educator.

Kate is also an enthusiastic world traveller, and she continues to engage with theatre practice and practitioners wherever she goes.
