Our final lecture in our short course will be in two parts, taking us to both Central and South America.

Search for the Maya
Beginning with the expeditions searching for the ‘lost cities’ of Central America in the 19th Century, this brief introduction will cover the development of the Mayan culture through to the mystery of its ‘collapse’ in the 10th century.

Burial Rites: Prehistoric funerary practices along the west coast of South America
From the oldest artificial mummies in the world in Chile to the Inka ‘Ice Maidens’, this lecture will cover the range of mortuary practices that have been unearthed by archaeologists investigating over 10,000 years of human occupation of this area.

This lecture is free, though RSVP is required through our online booking system below. In making a booking, you are not required to attend all lectures and you may make a booking after the lecture series has begun.
