Academy Travel invites you to join two of Australia’s leading archaeologists, Dr Estelle Lazer and Ben Churcher, for a special lecture at The National Museum, Canberra, as they discuss their fields of expertise.
The event is for ACT residents and complies strictly with ACT and federal COVID Safe policies.
Dr Estelle Lazer is a world leading archaeologist of Pompeii – you may have seen her recently as the expert-at-hand in documentaries by the Smithsonian and the BBC. Her research on the human remains of Pompeii has changed how we understand the ancient world. Estelle will be speaking about Pompeii, and some of the fascinating discoveries that have been made there recently.
Ben Churcher is the Field Director of Sydney University’s excavations at Pella, Jordan, where he was worked for over 35 years. Ben will be speaking about the diverse and fascinating archaeology of Jordan, whose history ranges from the splendour of Nabatean Petra to Roman Jerash, Crusader castles and Islamic hunting lodges. He will also introduce you to the University of Sydney’s work at Pella, which has just notched up the milestone of 40 years of excavations.
