Standard inclusions for all our tours. Some tours may differ, depending on destination and included experiences.
What to Expect
The information below outlines what is generally included in the tour price, as well as those items that remain the responsibility of each traveller.
While our tours are designed to be highly inclusive, incorporating accommodation, transport, expert leadership, admissions and selected meals, we believe it is important that our travellers have a clear understanding of what is and is not included in the tour price.
Standard Inclusions
What’s included in the tour price?
Unless otherwise stated in the itinerary, our tours include:
All accommodation at properties mentioned in the itinerary
Airport-hotel transfers (group or individual) if indicated in the itinerary
Land travel by private air-conditioned coach. Taxis may also be used for short trips on some tours. Some tours may involve local transport such as ferry, high-speed train and subway
Internal economy flights as mentioned in the itinerary (that take place during a tour)
All breakfasts, featuring a range of hot and cold buffet selections at each hotel
Lunches and dinners indicated with the letters L and D in the itinerary
Free-flowing hand-selected wines, beer and soft-drinks at sit-down lunches and dinners. Picnic and light lunches may not include alcoholic drinks
Services of an expert Tour Leader throughout tour
Background talks on tour, site notes and online resources
Services of an experienced Tour Manager throughout tour
All entrance fees to sites mentioned in the itinerary
Local guides at some sites
All tips for drivers, local guides and restaurants for included meals
Possible additional inclusions
Visa arrangements for destinations where group visas are required or included as part of the tour
Internal charter flights, small-ship cruises and rail journeys
Premium-category tickets to selected opera, theatre, music and dance performances
Exclusive access outside normal opening hours
Wine tastings and visits with producers
Standard Non-inclusions
What’s not included?
Our tours do not include the following:
Air or land travel from your home city to the tour start/end points
Lunches and dinners not specifically indicated with the letters L or D in the itinerary
Personal expenses such as passports, laundry and phone calls
Costs associated with any activity mentioned as “optional” in the itinerary, or any suggested free time activity
Travel Insurance. We require all tour participants to have adequate insurance coverage.
Porterage service at hotels. We have found porterage services at hotels has become unavailable in most cities
Booking flights or additional travel?
As a full-service travel agency, Academy Travel can assist with flights, travel insurance, pre-tour accommodation and additional travel arrangements.
As air travel to and from the tour is not included in the tour price, many travellers choose to take advantage of these services when planning their journey. For more information, click here.
