Assoc Prof. Lesley Beaumont

 

BIOGRAPHY

Assoc Prof. Lesley Beaumont holds a BA (Hons) in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of Birmingham and a PhD in Classical Archaeology from the University of London.

Previously, she served as Assistant Director of the British School at Athens and has published widely, including Childhood in Ancient Athens: Iconography and Social History (Routledge, 2012; 2015) and the Routledge Handbook of Children in Antiquity (2021).

Lesley is an Associate Professor of Archaeology and Chair of the Discipline of Archaeology at the University of Sydney. She also serves on the Executive Board and Council of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens, is a member of the University of Sydney’s Academic Board, and acts as an Expert Examiner for the Australian Government’s Office for the Arts under the Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act 1986.

Her current archaeological fieldwork focuses on the Early Iron Age settlement site of Zagora, located on the Greek island of Andros.
