Dr Bernadette Drabsch

A scientific illustrator and historian who has worked in the field of archaeology for 15 years.

 

Biography

Dr Bernadette Drabsch is a scientific illustrator and historian who has worked in the field of archaeology for 15 years. She has a strong interest in the visual arts, nature, science, archaeology, and ancient history.

Bernadette holds a BA (Ancient History and Classical Languages), Honours (Natural History Illustration) and PhD (Design/Archaeology) all from the University of Newcastle. She worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Newcastle for 10 years before transitioning into the world of cultural heritage management. Bernadette continues to lecture online and volunteers her time biennially as an archaeological illustrator at the University of Sydney’s Pella excavations in Jordan.

Bernadette’s historical and artistic knowledge stretches from the Neolithic period through to the early 20th century. She has travelled extensively within Australia, New Zealand, United States, Europe and the Middle East.

Bernadette’s friendly nature, extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for her subject makes her a sought-after tour leader. She leads small groups through Israel, Jordan and outback Australia.
