overview

During the late 19th Century the then German Empire amassed an amazing collection of art and archaeological items which are housed amongst a vast array of museums.

The individual museums and collections on Berlin's historical Museum Island are particularly renowned (including the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Bode-Museum and Pergamonmuseum). Alternatively, the modernist Kulturforum – former West Berlin's answer to Museum Island – utilises new architecture to facilitate an understanding of the history of Western art.

Join German cultural expert Tom Abbott to explore the breathtaking highlights of Berlin's extraordinary museums and collections – a unique prism through which to retrace the history of art from the ancient through to the modern.
