The Melbourne Fashion Festival showcases extraordinary creativity. For a limited time, the city is abuzz with events and runway shows celebrating fashion and showcasing the work of established and up-and-coming designers.

Academy Travel is delighted to present a four-day program, led by Nicole Hayward, featuring a curated selection of MFF events, exhibitions and premium runway shows, as well as a host of experiences unique to Melbourne.

Along the runway, we’ll rub shoulders with Australia’s fashion elite, from editors to journalists, designers to celebrities, with exclusive premium seating - row A or B - for all shows.

With a guided tour of Melbourne’s famous laneways, a private dining experience at Cumulus Inc, an evening performance at the Arts Centre Melbourne, and luxurious accommodation at the Langham on Southbank, you have the perfect mid-week fashion break not-to-be-missed!

    Experience a showcase of joyful event dressing at its grandest. The runway promises monumental silhouettes outstanding intricacy. Designers include Jason Grech, Marian Seddiq and more.

  • F*** The Invisible Runway

    Reject outdated fashion attitudes on age and beauty on International Women’s Day with fabulous fashion that will inspire, thrill, surprise and elevate women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.

  • Australian Fashion Business Lunch

    Over a two-course meal in the stunning Glasshouse, join renowned fashion journalist Glynis Traill-Nash and a panel of design leaders, sharing stories and experiences of the fashion industry.

  • Revelry Runway

    Don your tiara and high heels for this fabulous fashion event, featuring dresses and outfits that mark all the special occasions of our lives from that first date to a celebratory dinner.

  • Pre-Loved Designer Fashion & Styling

    Join Mattia Hunter & Giulia Ferrari, co-owners of Love It Longer, for a panel discussion, fashion parade and styling demonstration in the Kent Room of The Johnston Collection in East Melbourne.

  • Trenches to Runway

    From the Burberry Trench Coat to British bomber jacket, examine the profound impact that military clothing has had on what we wear in this fascinating exhibition at the Shrine of Remembrance.

  • Dinner at Cumulus Inc.

    Dine amongst the art in the private Arc One Gallery at Cumulus Inc, a restaurant fittingly located in an historic, turn of the century former rag trade building in Flinders Lane.

  • PERFORMANCE AT THE PLAYHOUSE

    Enjoy a performance of The Dictionary of Lost Words, the beautifully staged adaptation of Pip Williams award-winning book. Expect lush sets and period costumes.

  • Laneways Tour of Melbourne

    Take a guided tour through central Melbourne’s famous back streets, learning about the history of the city and discovering the galleries and shops to be found there.

In addition to your expert tour leader, you will be accompanied by a trained tour manager for the duration of the tour. Our tour managers will ensure your safety and comfort on tour, while also overseeing the behind-the-scenes logistics. Our tour managers are great travel companions who ensure your needs are well taken care of. From offering suggestions for your free time, to a lively chat at dinner or even providing space for a quiet moment of reflection, rest assured you are in good hands when travelling.

Melbourne (3 nights)

  • Following individual travel arrangements into Melbourne, we meet in our hotel at 3.00pm for afternoon tea and a talk from tour leader Nicole Hayward. An early dinner in the private Arc One Gallery at Cumulus Inc. follows before we transfer to the Royal Exhibition Building, the hub of the Melbourne Fashion Festival, for our first runway event – Glam Up Runway. Overnight Melbourne (Afternoon Tea, D)

  • This morning we make our way to the Johnston Collection for a panel discussion on Pre-Loved Designer Fashion and Styling and a styling demonstration with Mattia Hunter and Giulia Ferrari, co-owners of designer re-seller business Love It Longer. Giulia and Mattia will also demonstrate how they dress clients from head to toe in pre-loved designer fashion. We then transfer to the Glasshouse for the Australian Fashion Business Lunch, a hosted panel discussion with fashion and design leaders. After time to relax we head to the Playhouse at the Melbourne Arts Centre for a performance of The Dictionary of Lost Words. Overnight Melbourne (B, L)

  • We meet our guide this morning for a tour of central Melbourne’s famous Laneways. After our tour there is free time for lunch or to continue your exploration. In the later afternoon we return to the Royal Exhibition Building where we have a pre-show aperitif and canapés before the first runway show of the evening, F*** The Invisible Runway followed by the Revelry Runway show. Overnight Melbourne (B, Canapés)

  • On our final morning we walk the short distance to the Shrine of Remembrance to visit Trenches to Runway, an examination of the profound impact that military clothing and wartime conditions have had on what we wear. The tour concludes on our return to the hotel. (B)

The Langham, Melbourne

Situated on the banks of the Yarra River, this five-star hotel features an indoor swimming pool with views across the city. The elegant interior includes a grand marble staircase, cascading fountains and magnificent chandeliers. The hotel is within walking distance to Bourke Street Mall.
